Google Started Panda 4.2 – Where you ready?

Get The Latest Google News and To Help Your Web Site Rank Better So here we are sitting, waiting, watching and wondering when Google is going to push the button. And after a short 10 months (is it football season yet?) they started it on July 18. Google Panda 4.2 started to roll out.

What is Google Panda?

Panda was first released in Feb 2011 which went through their index and stopped sites with poor quality content from weaseling their way into top search returns. Since then there have been a few updates to this algorithm. Sites that did not get punished prior to an update might have been hit and sites hit previously could get hit again if they did not correct their errors.

What is this Google Panda 4.2 update going to do?

Well more than likely it’s going to do the same thing it did in September of 2014 and it will ding you if you didn’t change anything. All Google is saying is it is a refresh of their algorithm so we all get to watch together. I got the pop corn, byb. The only crappy thing is Google is saying it’s going to take months to update, so that means I get to hold my breath for a bit to wait for numbers to drop off.

What should I do now?

First you are too late, it’s already started. If you have not been blogging and sharing those posts on your social media and going through content and making sure it was compliant and there was no duplicate content on your site. Then you did not hear me in my blogging posts. I did warn you A LOT that it was coming.

These types of updates they do not warn about, in fact this update was first brought to everyone’s attention on the Wed after it started. In fact I didn’t see it until I checked Twitter while I was eating dinner, I damn near choked when I saw it. Then as the kids say these days I dropped the mic and walked out of the room.

Still want to see that movie.

So what do I do now?

Well first, look at your site’s content is there more than 300 words on each page? Fix that.

Are you blogging? Should have fixed that a long time ago and still doing it. I know you don’t have time for that and your personal life got in the way (oh that was me) but there is time to write it takes 2 hours to pump out at least 3 of them for a least a week of posts. Even for the slowest typist.

Are you sharing your posts on social media? Hell are you linking back to your site at all on social media? That is the one thing I just can’t wrap my head around. Get them to your site from your social sites even if it’s the home page. If they are not getting to your site how can they see anything on your site?

Are doing a email campaign? That does not mean putting it out on your social sites. This is for people that are wanting something no else is getting. They took the time to sign up reward them with something no one else gets. That way they will want to tell their friends about your site.

Is your site responsive? Aka mobile friendly. Check it here, if you fail then go here and get a template that is here.

Now for my soap box about working with a Google Panda penalty?

So a lot of you are not doing the things I just mentioned. Let me rephrase that most of you are not doing that. Then you email or call us and say that your site is not being found, the only thing we can say is your right. This Panda update is going to be a slow killer and more than likely by the time summer is over it will have a scorched earth/internet effect in its wake. I have been saying for awhile now that you need to start blogging and even gave you tips to refresh your content to make sure you will be above the blast but I can’t make you do it. That is up to you. I can only blog and coach you on the correct way to do it. But you know your business, you deal with your clients at your store and you can write about your brand better than anyone else. So do it. It will be raining this week and it’s a perfect time to get on the ball.

If you start doing all of these steps now it will take less time to get a start on the penalty that is coming your way. Because if you wait and do it later it will take you a minimum of 45 days to get back to before they hit you.

Like our Facebook page and follow me on the Tweet Box because I am going to be posting a lot of things to get this turned around for you and I won’t be blogging about it all and of course if you have questions you can contact me here.

For the title, I think you want to use ‘Were’ instead of ‘Where’
