I encourage you to think of marketing as connecting with your current customers; current market conditions highlight the value of continuing to stay connected with the customers you ALREADY HAVE! How else will your loyal customers know how to communicate with you if you don’t take the time to keep them up to date?
Initiating the conversation via a newsletter is a free and easy way to update your customers around evolving shopping, options, store hours, delivery options, new inventory, sales, and more.
Once a customer opts into joining your newsletter, they become your best brand ambassadors. Not only are the people on your list the most likely to refer you to others, you no longer need to invest in selling them on your value. Still, you do need to nurture and value them by offering them opportunities and services.
Here is an example of a winning newsletter campaign I created to announce their annual Fall Sale. After years of practicing email collections, this GOLDEN list has ballooned to almost 8,000 happy readers. The open rate is always above industry standards and often invites repeat sales in addition to a slew of new orders.
The client takes care to only send quarterly or upon real news of discounts. It offers a ton of practical information to educate the customer, allowing them to arm themselves with information and ideas before reaching out for an estimate.
My tool of choice is Mailchimp, which allows me to report back highly detailed data around the success of our campaigns and educated actionable ideas to improve our performance. Mailchimp is mobile-ready, handles unsubscribes seamlessly, eliminating the need for manual list management. You can add a signup form to your website and Facebook page allowing persistent growth of your list over time.
