Market for yourself or Hire?
During the recent Covid – Pause, I mistakenly landed on the belief that almost every business was negatively impacted by the inability to connect in person with their consumer and, therefore, would be arriving in droves for training and support to solve the problem by embracing digital marketing tools.
I was WRONG.
Turns out many of you are not yet willing to commit to digital marketing.
The top responses I hear:
- I am too busy working in my business to work on my business.
- I know I should do social media, but I hate it. I wish I were making enough money to hire you to do it for me.
- I didn’t go into business to be e-commerce.
- I don’t have the bandwidth to sell online.
- I have a website if I am honest, I never update it.
- I don’t get anything from my website, Facebook or Instagram.
The simple immutable truth is that all transactions occur out of curiosity or need followed immediately by opportunity. Today the facts are that 70% of us will be asking Google, our trusted advisor, to show them the desired solution, product, or service. You may be reading this post as a result of asking Google Search ( our most trusted advisor) to show you HOW TO market your small business.
The choice I am here to help you make is are going to train to use social media attention and other digital marketing tools or are you going to farm it out to someone like me. The takeaway here is, either way, to benefit from the investment of your time and resources, you will need to know three things before you should begin. Who is your target audience, what solution, product, or service do you provide that meets their needs, and where will you place that solution, product, or service to allow for it to be discovered?
Whichever way you go, I want you to know I am here sharing real-life examples of how I am marketing in real-time for businesses like yours. I will be sharing my daily activities, grinding it out for results in the form of data. Data is the super fuel that levels the playing field. No matter the brand, the results data will allow you to predict the next steps and shape your path like the pros.
There is no better time than now to be in business – Small Businesses are More Competitive when they use digital tools.
Digital marketing closes much of the gap between large, medium, and small companies because it avails each level with many of the same resources. While big companies with larger budgets can spend more on paid ads and advanced software, digital marketing gives the little guy more opportunities to compete, improve brand awareness, and build an audience. Digital tools allow almost zero barriers to understanding your consumer’s needs and delivering a highly intuitive, customized solution.
100% of you who believe digital marketing doesn’t work for you are simply doing it wrong. Think of it this way. If you were handed the keys to a formula one race car and told driving it to the finish line would reward you with infinite riches, would you get in and take a shot? Most of us would be willing to admit that the reward comes after years of training and practice. Simply having access to the car doesn’t mean success. I invite you to train to win!
